breaking coffee standards.

Heres a thought:

I have been doing some thorough research.
Asking questions, polling people, polling myself, and the crowning jewel of staring into other people's coffee cups.
My conclusion: the whiter the coffee, the less cool you are.

Coffee is huge. Its everywhere. It cannot be ran from.
Its trendy, its tasty, its expensive, its helpful when you are up late studying, and its been around forever. But it seems as if the more things you add to it, such as: sugar, creamer, non dairy creamer, half and half, milk, cinnamon, etc. the less hip, cool, and credible you are as a coffee drinker. A few times when I have been at the sugar station in either Cups, the caf, or whatever the new name of Jazzman's is at school, I have been embarrassed at the amount of sweet flavors that I add to my coffee. Paranoid that people are watching me put in yet another pack of sugar, I try to make my sweetening up as nonchalant as I can. If that means taking quick glances to make sure people arent watching, then so be it.
I think the worst is when you think you have put in an adequate amount of sweetness into the coffee, stir it up to take a sip only to find that it is still too bitter.
Having to open one more sugar packet or put in another hit of creamer is the walk of shame.

I have to admit, sometimes when my coffee is too bitter (after I've stirred and sipped while standing at the sugar station) I reluctantly go find my seat instead of adding more goodness because I don't want to be judged by the black coffee drinkers.

Who says that the black coffee drinkers are in charge?
Who says that they have the coffee authority?

I would now like to stand upon my right to put in however much sweet goodness into my coffee and walk away with my head held high.
I am going to break the norm and make white/light brown coffee acceptable.
I am not the only out there who feels this way.

well. Honestly I really am not that passionate about coffee. I was just using this time to write because I am tired of reading about the government. How can you, Luke, expect me to bury my nose in a book when what I really want to do is create?
haha. kidding kidding kidding.

But speaking of coffee and Luke... you know that you are with the right person when they like their coffee just as white as you do.

  1. Since I drink coffee black most of the time, but with sugar and stuff some of the time, I straddle the cool and uncool worlds. I am thus most qualified to say this: drink what you want, when you want, where you want. Coffee is a drink best enjoyed, period. As Yoda would say, "coffee black and white enjoy I do!"
