I Kind of Love Camp.

lets just start out by saying I kind of Love Camp.
this past week has been insane.
I am kind of nervous for a full week of camp because I was exhausted after only 2 days.
At one point while working in the kitchen and after wearing Toms for 2 days, I said out loud, "my feet hurt. Im tired"
I got blank stares. Compassionate, but a little blank. Then I thought "JJ. You probably shouldnt be complaining. You've been here for 2 and a half days. Some of these people have been here for weeks. "
hahah nothing like a good dose of humility.

We sit on the floor a lot.
I have never appreciated a couch so much.
Not that I am sitting on one right now, but just the thought of a cushion makes me happy.
Message: dont take your couches for granted.

I also have to sleep on the top bunk.
I would honestly rather never ever be on the top bunk.
I dont like to climb.
But Im trying this new thing where I dont complain about everything.
(im not complaining right now, just telling you what is going on in my world)
So Im sticking it out on the top and trusting the Lord to not let me fall off. hah.
But seriously every time i climb up there it wobbles, creaks, and shakes.
And I drop things off of it.

Anyways.... My living space is very small. I have enough room for one rubbermaid tub. Everything else is shoved under the bed.
Still... im not complaining.
We dont spend enough time in our rooms anyway.

I get to work in arts and crafts.
I love arts and crafts.
When i got there this past Thursday, I found some felt and elastic.
I taught the girls how to make headbands.
They took over camp.
On Friday night, everyone dresses up nice and we have a formal dinner and talent show.
It was so cool to see all of my girls that had been in arts and crafts wearing the headbands that they made.

Now the talent show takes me back to some good memories.
The campers who come to the Ranch are going into either 6th or 7th grade.
My friend Anna and I were discussing, while watching the talent show, that this is the only time in their lives where its okay to get up in front of your friends or strangers and do a cheer by yourself or sing a song without a track or with the voices on the CD. This is the only time they will do it and we get to witness it.
I think the talent show will be my favorite part of the week.

About 18 campers accepted Christ.
That is something to rejoice about.

All of the staffers are amazing.
I love being around these people.
Everyone is so funny and actively seeking the Lord.
It is so encouraging to look around when we have some free time to see people reading their Bibles and writing in journals.
Its a beautiful picture.

My "time off" is almost over. We have staff meeting at 1:30 and campers come at 3.
