My transition from home to dorm has been a little weird.
I have moved the furniture in my dorm around like 12 times trying my hardest not to make it look like last years room... but it is slowly morphing back into my last semester set up.
oh well. whatever works.
What I am most excited about my dorm room are a few things:
I took a little round table from my house, I doubt that my mother knows pah, and I found this
little red and pinkish red piece of material with a fun pattern on it for about a dollar at hudsons. I set the 2 desk chairs around the table. It looks super cool. Its a little breakfast nook. Now only if I can get Miss Morgan to sit at it with me... then we'll be in business.
Mr. Luke spray painted my bulletin board with chalkboard spraypaint. I now have a chalk/bulletin board. Its the coolest.
He also spray painted 2 flower pots that we found. One with chalkboard and the other with regular spray paint. These little guys are for a couple of flower arrangements I'm working on. I actually have a color scheme in my room this year. Red, Black, and Teal. I like it.
I also have a coffee pot. I have recently become a big coffee drinker.
Mr. Luke got me some good coffee. I also have really fun cups that Luke and I got at an
antique store for about a quarter. I should go get more.
Those are the things Im excited about the most.
I honestly like living in the dorm.
I like not having to make my own food. I would probably starve because I am not so good at making an edible meal.
I like being close to classes and not having to drive everywhere. My little honda needed a break.
I like the community aspect of it.
I fully intend to meet every girl that lives on my hall and cultivate a relationship with them.
I want to be more relational, even though I hate small talk.
Hopefully those small talk conversations with acquaintances with transition into real talk conversations with friends.
I plan on bribing them with coffee.
I do miss home though.
My friendships in Laurel were getting so much better, deeper, and more real.... if that even makes sense.
My friend Brooke got married.
It was beautiful.
She was beautiful.
My friends were beautiful.
We danced a lot.
I sweated a lot.
The cake was delicious. 2 pieces plus high activity dance floor... not the best life decision I have ever made.
I am trying to be more productive.
Make more things.
Read more books.
Have more conversations.
Play more guitar.
Watch less office.
This is a particular toughie because I have an obsession with The Office. I never get tired of any of the episodes. I still catch myself laughing out loud even though I have seen every episode a minimum of 10 times.
My goals for tomorrow are:
wake up before 9
shower
stand in line to get books
read the word
spend time with Luke
walk a couple of miles
not eat pizza
This one is going to be a kicker. There is always hot, delicious, and fresh pizza beckoning me to eat a slice. Pizza always at my disposal. This is my downfall.
make new friends in class
craft a little
go to church
drink more water.
