This may not happen to anyone besides my family, but we always kind of wait to the last minute to wrap the presents.
I was proud of myself for wrapping all of my gifts on time this year. I actually finished all of my crochet projects too!
Even though I finished wrapping and stamping my gifts, none of them really had any embellishments other than stamps (which are my new favorite thing) and some yarn tied around them.
I had no idea how to make bows.
My sister taught me yesterday and now I am a bow making machine!
They don't necessarily look like bows are supposed to look like, but I am please with they way they turned out.
Heres a little tutorial:
Supplies-
A wrapped gift
(you can make super long bows, tiny bows, or medium sized. Its completely customizable)
Scissors
Ribbon (I've only done this with wired)
Pull out the ribbon. You'll need a good bit. Flip the gift over so that the ribbon is in the "stomach" of the gift.
The gift is lying on its stomach.
Twist the ribbon so that it goes around all 4 sides of the gift.
After you've twisted the ribbon so that there is ribbon on each side of the gift, flip the gift on its back.
Now the ribbon and the gift are all on the front.
Tie a knot in the center.
Tuck 1 ribbon under the opposite side of the ribbon that is not tied in a knot. Do the same with the other side.
Cut more ribbon off. The bigger the bow the longer the ribbon.
Make an accordion like fold with all of the ribbon.
Place the accordion-ed ribbon on top of where you tied the knot on the gift.
Tie a knot onto the accordion-ed ribbon securing it on the gift.
Fluff out the loops! You're almost finished!
Trim the ribbon ends and tuck into the bow whatever is sticking out.
I have very much enjoyed making these bows! I admit, this isn't' the best bow tutorial, but we've only got 1 more day left until Christmas! Also, there are way better tutorials out there with mine. I apologize if its a little confusing. I encourage you to go out there, find a cool video, and learn how to tie this bow, different kinds of bows, or just anything new and awesome.
Merry Christmas Eve!
