Hello blogworld... Blogdom?... Blogopolis?... Hello. This is “Mr. Luke.” I’ve never blogged before and Jj doesn’t know that I’m borrowing her blog for the day, but there’s something I’d like to draw your attention to:
2 years.
24 months, 730 days. That’s how long I’ve had the privilege of being Ms. Jj Benson’s boyfriend. Normally we don’t allow ourselves to be overly affectionate on the internet. After all, no one likes the couple that posts on each other’s Facebook wall every 3 minutes like they’re playing a game of “I luv u” tag. But since I’m hijacking her Blog I might as well go all out and tell you a bit of my feelings about these past few months.
They have been wonderful.
They really have been. Not the regular kind of wonderful, but the “I still can’t believe I haven’t woken up” kind of wonderful (Hey, I warned you I was going all out). She is hilarious, gorgeous, and Godly aka the complete package. Honestly, I never thought I even had a chance with Jj, but like the Lord showed favor to Joseph in Egypt, he has also shown favor to me in allowing me to be with her (granted, his situation was most likely more serious what with being “sold into slavery” and all, but you get the point).
Now it’s been two whole years, and I’ve never been happier. I can’t recall a day where Jj hasn’t been kind, patient, supportive, hilarious, and encouraging. I am truly blessed to have her.
I really can’t brag enough about Jj. She’s the kind of person who isn’t wonderful because she does wonderful things, but rather she does wonderful things because she’s wonderful. I’m not sure if that made sense, but what I mean is that she is wonderful just because she is. For instance, maybe you’ve seen this new Proverbs 31/Live 31 movement that’s going around. If not, I recommend checking it out because it’s great. It challenges women to seek Godliness and to find their worth in who they are in Christ, as well as challenges guys to not settle for anything less than a girl that honors God with her life.
My point, though, is that I had a Proverbs 31 woman before it became “cool.” Jj has been nothing but passionate about the Lord throughout our relationship, seeking to always put Him and His kingdom first. An example of this is how she conducted herself a few weekends ago when we helped out at her church’s DNow. Instead of being focused on how she could spend time with me in her free time, she used any spare time she had to talk and invest in young girls. Now that might be a simple way of ministering, but I absolutely love that she does that. And that is just a brief peek into her character.
I am so thankful to have a girl that loves God more than anything else and seeks to honor and glorify him along with me. Her heart for God, His people, and worship, is both challenging and encouraging.
I have never known someone so comfortable and fulfilling to be with. After the Lord, she is my greatest joy, treasure, and love.
So happy anniversary, Jj. 2 down, plenty to go.
Now you know Mom has to comment.... sniff.. sniff... need tissue! You 2 are so cute and so perfect for each other. Jj, you know how much I love you and love having you in the family! I look forward to see where the Lord takes you both individually and together! Barb
