Not ready for reality.

hey there blog world!
Things almost got back to normal (school starting = being on a routine and a schedule and the lovely break over), but then some terrible weather decided to land in the Jackson area.
Mr. Luke and I came back to the area on Saturday and I moved back into the dorm.
Even though I didn't plan on doing this, I may have brought back twice as much as I took home. The original plan was to bring back less.
oops.
So after approximately 8 trips back and forth from the car, we finally got all of my things back into my tiny dorm room.
Now I just have to find places to put everything.
Easier said than done.

So even though I have moved into the dorm, Morgan (roommate/one of my best friends since the 5th grade) and I camped out at Mr. Luke's house because we are scared of bad weather.
Yes. I am scared of bad weather.

But the Campbell home is filled with warm and cozy quilts, tasty food, and a wide selection of movies. It was a lovely day minus the ice storm that canceled the first day of school... which is today.
We have a snowless snow day.
Which means in MS terms, its really cold and slippery. hahah.

I plan to do some fun crafts with Mr. Luke and Morgan.
Did Mr. Luke look up fun craft ideas for us to do? Maybe.
He found some cool ideas at this awesome site.
Have Morgan and I been drooling over these fun DIYs? Absolutely.

But I do have a few fun things to show and tell you...

I have picked up the crochet needle.
It took me a few days to grasp the basic concepts. I would start a chain, attempt to make a row, then pull it out. Start a chain pull it out. Learn a new stitch pull it out.
I spent a lot of time watching "how to crochet" youtube videos.
I finally found one that worked for me. If you google things like "how to crochet a hat" or "how to crochet basics" some very helpful videos pop up. Make friends with these videos.
This 2 shaded blue hat was the first thing that I made.
(the hyperlink is not the video I watched to make the hat.)

The blue hat took me about 3 days to complete.
I would work on it every spare second that I could... and it was awesome.
I messed up a lot, but you really cant tell.

The gray hat in the back of the picture was supposed to be for Mr. Luke.
When I put it on him to measure to see how much further I needed to crochet, it looked like a girl hat.... so I have a new hat in my collection.

But I very much enjoy crocheting.
I am a grandmother.

This is one of Mr. Luke's Christmas presents to me.
Its a handwritten book of our story.
How we met and all that sweet stuff.
It is filled with pictures, cut outs, and memories.
It is one of the most beautiful things I possess.
I just though I'd brag a little bit.
My cousin, Liz, gave me this awesome basket weaved from rolled up magazines.
This photo was taken in my room at my house in Laurel.
The magazine basket now houses all of my yarn.
But I wouldn't mind having more magazine weaved baskets.
Im a fan of recycled goodness.
Also sitting in the basket is my new best friend, my yellow mini sewing machine.
This little piece of sunshine also made the journey to Clinton.
Its safe to say that when I'm not reading, I will be crafting.
Also at the bottom of the photo is the bag Mr. Luke and I made for all of the women in my family. Yes. I made one for myself.
And I love it.
It comes everywhere with me.
There is super neat store that Luke's dad, Mr. Bill, told me about a few months ago.
Its in the Parkside shopping center in Laurel (Roses).
Its called NUTS.
It is a branch (I think I have this right) of the Good Samaritan.
Anyway it is a thrift shop with excellent prices.
I love thrift stores. I could dig through things all day.
I wanted a lot more than I could hold, but I ended up walking out with all of these frames for about 5 dollars.
Here are a few things that I love:
picture frames-- empty or can house a photo
jars
yarn

Anyway... I am super pumped about these frames. I have no idea where to put them.
I sprayed a little disinfectant and windex on them and they look as good as new.
Finally, since I had some spare time this past week. Alone at my house all day every day.
I rummaged through my closets.
I hadn't cleaned out my clothes in a while, so this task seemed perfect.
There were items that I hadn't worn since high school.
My policy was "if I haven't worn it in a year, its outta here"
So now I have a significantly smaller amount of clothes. Which is fine.

I had 6 large stacks of clothes that filled up 3 extra large fit in the church trashcans bags.
I could barely pick up the bags.
The clothes went to the church to be used in either the next Church wide rummage sale or sent to El Salvador.
The stacks toppled over multiple times.
There was lots of re-stacking.
Anyway..
School starts back tomorrow and I will be submerged under a million reading assignments.
I know that I can do it.
I know that I can complete all of the work in my 19 hours.

I hope you are enjoying your day... hopefully its a day off to where you don't have to jump back into reality.

Now. Its craft time.
